RANT!

Rant 1

Extreme Make Over : Home edition, a good show about doing good things for people (even in spite of the boat loads of money that they're making on the show). But why on earth would they build these million dollar replicas of Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory for a few hurricane victim families, instead of building twenty more realistic houses for twenty families? I'm not the first to wonder.

Rant 2

For years, Hollywood has distorted what the average man perceives as a beautiful woman. Picking only the most drop-dead georgious women for all movie and television roles. Even nerds, in hollywood, are Vogue cover girls with glasses and their hair up.

But alas! These women of perfection are still not happy with how they look. They are now carving their faces, elephantising their breasts, starving themselves to the point of being unsightly, and injecting their lips in order to puff them up, leaving them looking like the victim of a domestic dispute. Just watch any of the many award shows, the red carpet has become a circus side show, a parade of ugly, disfigured freaks.

And to all of this I say HOORAY! We can now watch as the beauty of "ordinary" women all over the world, makes it's triumphant comeback!

This ranting is fun, I should do this more often.

Actually, you already do this more often.
Youve just started to write you alcohol induces grumblings for the world to see.
I say KEEP WRITING !!!
Why should those who know you personally suffer alone ?

By the way, I would love to see our perception of feamle beauty follow truly beautiul women with female curves and everything.
I am tired of seeing women who look more like pre-adolescent boys with boobs!!!
The number of women who look like models and actresses who have those bodies is 8%. So, thats not what women really look like.
They arte the odd ball freaks. I say lets keep them at the circus and....... oh my god !! Im ranting !!
Sorry !!!!!

I agree with rant # 1. It does seem wasteful. But I guess its their show.

I have been thinking the exact same thing about #2. What really kills me about this one is the impressionable little girls who watch these stars and think that their own bodies are ugly. The stars are the ones with the ugly little stick bodies and the way to huge boobs and lips. SO messed up. Most of the red carpet chicks have now joined Calista Flockhart and Lara Flynn Boyle on the tic-tic diet. (1 tic-tac per meal chased with a tsp of water.) I will stop now... because I could do my own very long rant on this one.

Re rant 1: I've wondered that myself.

Re rant 2: Most of these women wouldn't get a second glance walking down a street without their make-up.

(drifting over here thru 2 or 3 other blogs, I can't really remember how I landed here...)

Rant 1: I hadn't seen that particular show but I can see affluenza creeps in when it'll boost at least a segment of the ratings. I can see people being happy to get more than they had before but a touch of ummm... I don't know, ...reality?

Rant 2: As I was watching Meg Ryan on some quickie interview the other day, I contemplated what rigging would work for lips like those. I mean, she looks like a large mouth bass for crying out loud! I feel bad for a lot of the people who have gone just that one litte, teensy, eensy step too far and find themselves in the Whacko Jacko reserved seating section of 'slice - dice - don't I look nice?' freaks. (Sorry, one good rant deserves another...)

I agree they should spread the money around and help out everyone and not just put a whole bunch into just one,as for the Hollywood women issue I think that they should just be normal bet that will never happen

Jon, you put up two good rants here. Nice work.

I had to stop watching that home-builder show exactly for the reason you mentioned. It was kinda making me sick.

As to the Hollywood and Fashion bunch ... I think if we held up a completely untouched photo of someone like Grace Kelly next to (insert name of almost any current day actress), the plastic and rubber on the latter would jump right out of the TV set at us.
